It pays to know what you are doing
From another forum:
"Ok I'm not much of a bow hunter and know nothing about crossbows, but here's what happened to my father in law, he was cocking the bow with it between his legs and something malfunctioned and you can probably guess what happened next. Yep right in the sacks and rushed to the hospital. Within hours they swelled up to the size of grapefruits and turned jet black. He was then transported to Saginaw from Tawas where he had sugary yesterday and very luckily didn't have to have them amputated ( at least not yet ). I do not know what brand or model it was. Needless to say he is in a ridiculous amount of pain."
And an update today:
"Thanks for all the well wishing and sorry it took so long to get back to this thread I've been whipped out by the flu. My father in-law is home now and doing well ( luckily he got to bring his boys home with him ). My wife told me he was actually trying to unload it when this happened. My cones hurt for two days just thinking about it."
Now if that doesn't make one cringe....

Ouch.
Can't help but wonder about that technique.
It kinda reminds me of my vasectomy.... I'd recommend sitting on a bag of frozen peas on a lazy boy in front of a TV for a few days with a bottle of single malt scotch nearby to sip on. Oh yeah, and take the blue pill if the doctor offers them. Ooooooh yeah!

In related news a new tenor has been selected to sing the national anthem at all Detroit Red Wing home games. Nathanial Hickson had auditioned several times in prior years as a baritone but his voiced was deemed too "basey" and would not carry the acoustics properly in the arena.
There was no definitive reason giving for Mr. Hickson's switch to tenor.
