Women who Hunt (and the men that love them)

Vix,

I jumped this thread because I didn't want to pirate the private thread. How can we change your mom's mind. I am married to a women who hunts and have four daughters who participate in some form or fashion. Hunting is our lifestyle, it dictates the way we live. I have plenty of hunting buddies and have enjoyed some great hunts with them, but let me tell you, not one of those trips comes close to those that I have enjoyed with my wife or my daughters! If more families would hunt together, then more families would stay together, not to mention that when I tell my children that something will kill them, i.e. drugs, there is no doubt in their mind what that means.

Mom Vix, we love our women who hunt and wish there were more. Maybe you could pick up the bow and try it on for size? Just my $.02.

I'm cool with women who hunt. Nothing wrong with that, and they're welcome, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm also cool with women who don't hunt. I know lots of country girls and women who don't (far more than those who do), and that's OK too.

Let's encourage women who do hunt, and affirm those who choose not to.

We guys who have wives who don't hunt but don't mind us doing it are blessed too!

I didn't hunt growing up. No one in our family did. Although we had close friends who hunted and shared their stories and meat with us. I was the first one to hunt at 20 when I boyfriend introduced me to it. One of my two brothers also hunts now (Stinky Buffalo on this forum).

My Dad hunted in his youth in Germany; in fact, he would take American soldiers hunting. He only hunted with me a couple of times out west before we moved to Ontario. Dad, my brothers and I did fish together a lot though! We'd stock the freezer.

My mother grew up with just sisters, and has some pretty set ideas of what a woman should be like. I can't blame her - it was how she was raised. I know that in many ways I'm not the daughter she imagined she'd have, but we get along really well and love each other dearly.

Mom will be 75 next February. I know I'll never change her, but that's OK. She'll keep telling me that she hopes that I'll get it out of my system, and I'll keep telling her that will happen when I take my last breath.

This past summer I spent a few days at a church camp with seniors. I'd brought along my Vixen as the septic bed behind the building is a perfect range set-up. Quite a few of the people there tried it out - along with a few of the senior ladies, including my Mom! I was surprised and very, very proud of her. She's totally embarrassed that I took photos, but it was a huge deal to me.

I know she'll never understand why I hunt, but at least she now understands a little bit of how much fun it is to shoot and hit the target.

what a awsome story a moment iam sure you will cherish. So many people who have never been exposed to hunting have no idea what there missing. I bet some of thoses seniors wont remember what pair of socks thy nitted this month but they will remember ther ecross bow experience

Nothing I enjoy more than watching the expression on someone's face the first time the pull the trigger and hit a target, whether with the xbow or a gun!

I love watching people discover that guns aren't all evil and that target shooting can be a ton of fun.

This thread is the perfect place for me to say again how very very grateful I am for this forum. It's wonderful to feel so welcome here. None of that "old boys' club" feeling here! Much appreciated!!!!

My wife does not hunt, but is very supportive. She tried hunting, but it was not her thing. However, she loves to shoot firearms and she can out shoot me with a handgun, most of the time.

My thought on women hunting is that it is one situation where we are indeed all equal.
Enjoying the outdoors has no age or gender barriers.
