I was using Remington .270, 130 grain corky yote. LOL. Can you believe a didn't even get a pass through on a 15 yard shot???? I still have a hard time with that one. So did that doe. Maybe I should go heavier.Mike P wrote:What broadhead did you use?
This year I kept two of the 1.5 year old does for myself. I cut them up and stuck them in the freezer the same afternoon/evening. Mom is usually a non deer eater. I am particular about how I cut up the meat and I trim off a lot of stuff. No silver lining, no fat, and no bone. Just nice red meat. Mom loved it . . .there may not be any left when I return.
Crock pot cooking at it's best. Something about the crock pot that makes the meat fall apart tender. Yum, Yum!
Those venison sandwiches on the way home Monday were awesome!
Two I kept and three went to families that were needing the meat. I only had to skin those out, they completed the cut up.
I got more requests this year for meat than ever before. Usually, I just get the "shoot the deer out of my yard" requests.
I appreciate all the congrats/replies.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.
