Late season 8 point (new pic added)

Post by Rich »

Well after what seemed like a hopeless season for me (with the exception of my early season bow kill) I was finally able to connect on this heavy horned 8 point. Seems like 8 points have been the story of my life the past few season.

My wife and I went out after work today and got a late start, I was finally set up about 4:00 watching 2 creek beds. The wife was 200 yards to my right. After only 20 minutes a 6 points comes out feeding to right followed by this boy. Once in the clear I let the 870 fly, it was an 85 yards shoot and he traveled about 35 yards before dumping. Slug used was a Lightfield 2 1/2" EXP.

Sorry about picture quality, no digital camera with me.

Rich

Looks like a nice deer to me, Rich ... a little tough in the pan, maybe, but nice nonetheless! :P

Congrats!

Good looking buck! I actually like the rack better than your first one. Both are nice.

Congrats!

Rich, width doesnt matter with him. He's got a perfect rack with excellent features! He's a brute for us here.

hopefully he makes the hunting show this year:-P that way we can all have a few there

btw, get a H&R slug gun. Nothing against the 870 but you will love the H&R for late season also :D Bucks are feeding good now if you can find some that havent been pressured to much for 4-5 days

CF,

I may bring them down just to get them scored, but there have been way to many big deer killed in VA this year to place anywhere. A lot of freak nasty non-typicals being killed.
