My NAA Indoor Nationals Results
Well here are my results for the NAA Indoor National Championship with the crossbow.
I was too tenative with moving my sights yesterday, and dropped 5 points. There was one guy 2 points ahead of me going into today. I knew I had to shoot a perfect 600 to have any chance to win. I had arrow number 28 leak out for a 9. I ended up with a 599 today with 49 inners. One point behind first place. If we would have tied in score, I would have finished first due to inner count. My 599 was the highest score shot this year.
All I hoped for going into this shoot was not to be embrassed. Guess I accomplished that, this being my first NAA shoot of any kind. I opened some eyes since I was not following the accepted equipment. I used a basically stock Excalibur Apex bow costing thousands less than the custom rigs on the line, and shooting Gold Tip arrows with stock components.
I met some really nice people there as well. All very complimentary. I was asked to qualify for the US World Team as well. Can't afford that!
My thanks to all that helped me with getting this bow ready in time for the shoot, and the encouragement. Special thanks to Tim Gillingham of Gold Tip Arrows and my friend Gary for his expert machining abilities.
Next week is the NFAA Indoor Nationals. I'll try and do better there.

Re: My NAA Indoor Nationals Results
Congratulations on your fantastic score. I am also interested to know about
your set up. Were you using a scope or a red dot sight or just going with the
set up out of the box? Do you know the speed of the arrows you were shooting? What distance are the targets set at? How do you think the Apex
would do in a 3 D shoot? Lots of questions, any or all answers would be
appreciated.

Re: My NAA Indoor Nationals Results
Congrats!! How far do you shoot those? 20 yards like compound indoors?
I used to shoot holes through bottle caps and knock the caps off water bottles at 70 yards with my Phoenix when I had it... Using a sling to steady though.

Re: My NAA Indoor Nationals Results
Target distance is 18 meters, about a foot short of 20 yds.
No magnification is allowed. I shoot compound peep.
No slings, shooting coats, boots, gloves, etc.
No electronic devices (lights, triggers, etc.).
Velocity of my arrows is 221 fps.
Hooked butts and palm rests allowed, with limitations.
Arrow restrictions, length, diameter, etc.
The Apex would do fine IF you are an excellent judge of yardage. I shoot a Vortex for 3D. My yardage is not the best, need all the help I can get!

Re: My NAA Indoor Nationals Results
Sir, I'm new to archery and interested in target shooting and the Apex bow. I just looked at the NAA webpage and got really confused. I didn't see anything specifically about Xbows. Do all the competitions have a Xbow catagory? If there is any advice you can give me about how to get into xbow target shooting. Any magazines I should get? I will go back to the NAA page and read some more. Thank you.
