Take it off. If nothing else you will have peace of mind.
I am a hunter and proud of it.

If your not using it there is no harm to take the string off, just take off the dissipator pads too.
That said, many leave them strung year-round(myself included) and have no ill effects.

X2

I had often wished I could have more time for hunting. My wish came true . . .I'm unemployed.

I love being retired, Yes taking string off is fine fer 9 monthes. Of course you can always shoot a few a week into a target & keep it on.

Yea, get off the job and leave the string. You just gotta look at things from a different angle. :D

Unfortunately i work for a no vacation giving,70 hr a week working,no lunch break giving hard ass,(MYSELF).I am in the lawn and landscape business in the south.I have to make the money for the whole year in roughly 8 months so that means no days off from march til oct.Its still a great life though because i literally hunt every day for the other three months.

A couple of you folks have mentioned taking the D pads off when removing the string.I need to ask why?...mostly because I've had my string off now since last December and did not remove the D pads.

Unstrung limbs will com press the rubber diss pads. Contrary to my pal, cfarmer, I have a diff view. 1st, you have, I believe steel screws going into alum plates that the diss pads are mounted to. One time over-torquing means a minor problem. Stripped hole.

I left an Emax strung for 2-3 yrs and it never lost any measurable amount of fps. By measurable, I mean diffs beyond what a high/low bheight would yield.

YMMV.
