8 Ptr with the Vortex

Post by Tim.Berrich »

Went hunting Saturday afternoon behind my house. I always take a 1 gal bag of field corn and put it out at 18 to 20 yards it helps in low light seeing. Light was fading and i had a mature doe on the corn facing me eating. I was ready to take her as soon as she went broadside well she looked behind her and ran under my tree. A buck came to my corn pile he had that big buck look and he was broadside. I put a muzzy in him he ran maybe 50 yards before i found him. He'll score maybe 110" i am sorry i shot him i thought he was bigger and older. I pass up a lot of buck's most wont, i love deer meat and i love big racks. His G2's are 9" and the other is 11" but the rack is thin.
1st time post.

Congrat's .... sounds like a beauty buck !

In our neck of the woods , we don't have the buck population others have ( like in VA etc )

If you are a weekend hunter in our area , and have limited access , and pass up any buck , it could be the last you see for the season ...

In my opinion, getting an arrow into any deer is an incredible feat. I have my share of large racks (even a P & Y entry) but I don't live and breath big racks only.

I do live and breath archery deer hunting and I would never feel the least bit guilty for taking any deer using archery equipment.

X2 and welcome

Man you must have a great hunting area to be able to consider passing up a buck like that.
I'm sure he'll be good eating for you...cornfed and all Congrats.
