Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Re: deer sculpture
Its all stainless steel. The antlers are round stock that I grind to shape, hammer bend, then tig weld together. The body is flat stock stainless cut and welded together. Adding more metal, welding, and grinding to shape. Alot of building up and grinding to shape. The base was flat stock cut and ground to shape. I then put a light coat of grease and burned it in for color then lightly sand. The body was sanded and polished smooth. And the antlers I left with the grinding texture.OkXbowHunter wrote:Amazing, simply amazing! You sir, are very talented!

Re: deer sculpture
Beautiful piece of sculpting. As I read your post it brought an interesting thought to my mind. Over the years I've met a lot of people opposed to hunting in general. Their general consensus was that all hunters were a bunch of "dumb hicks" that would kill anything that moves. Its funny because I've never met anyone that matched that description.
Since coming to this site I've met individuals that are smart and talented with there string making or arrow making or quiver mount making etc... Other people with years of wisdom from their past hunting failures and successes which they are willing to impart down to the newer hunters that need some guidance. Still others have it in their heart to loan equipment to a fellow hunter in need.
I think that the liberal, anti-hunter types don't have a clue of what we are really like at heart

Re: deer sculpture
Good job GP! I like it. Now I know why you don't have time for making the mounts.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

Very nice indeed!
How long would it take to produce a piece like that?
