Lumizone

Post by rt2bowhunter »

Kicking around getting a scope. I have been looking at the Lumizone. I have a few questions. On some of the scopes the light dial is on the top and on some its on the right side. Whats the difference? And how much adjustment does the light have it looks like its 10 or 11 brightness settings of one color.
And on the lowest light setting does the cross hair wash out the target under low light hunting.

Whether the light setting is on the top or side is irrevelant. What's important is that the crosshairs are lit to the point of being sharp and clear.

I own a Lumizone and, in my opinion it is, for about $140- 150 retail, one of the better crossbow scope available.

I've found that with it's 11 settings, the Lumizone allows the crosshairs to be lit to the optimal level at all lighting conditions. During daylight hours one could use the higher settings, while in lower light conditions the lower settings would give the best effect.

If you can find a used for around $100, you definitely can't go wrong.

Have 2 lumi-zones, one on each bow. No wash out like on some rifle illuminated scopes, or red dots, I've seen, the lumi-zone has the normal black reticle like a non-illuminated scope, when it's turned off, that lights up when turned on, (battery goes dead, no-problem, it still usable, it's normally black).
Been playing around out back at different times of the day, for me & my old eyes with dark brown cardboard on the target, when sun is in scope I use it on high, 1st half hour or last half hour of light, I set on 2 or 3 - raining I set on 1 or 2 - All other shooting have been with it turn off.
Round here never seen one with the adj. on top, all the shops have the ones with the adj. on the right side.
I looked at 4 or 5 different crossbow scopes before buying the lumi-zones, my wife & I really like them.

Thanks everyone, Thats what i was wondering Wayne. Thats how i test scopes. Sounds like this just might be what I'm wanting. I have tried the 5 green and 5 red cross hairs. I didn't care for them. And putting the light switch on the rear is just smart. Looks like a hunter had a hand in this scope's making.

You may want to wait until the new "Twilight" scope hits the market in a couple of months. I wouldn't be surprised if the Lumi-Zone was history once this new scope comes out...

I have though about that scope. And I'm sure it will be a great scope. But looks like its barking at twice the price. Plus the light adjustment switch is on the tube. I have a few questions in my mind about this scope.
My thinking at this point is. Buy the Vari-Zone Put it on my Y25. If the new scope is all that. Then put the VZ on my Ibex and look in to the new scope. If i really like the VZ then buy another.
My eyes are getting to the point that my Holo sight is starting to grow hair around the dot LOL.

Although older, the Varizone is still a decent scope for the price. If one doesn't mind not having " lighted" reticules like the Lumizone, it still can do the job. However it also doesn't gather as much light as the Lumizone, thus making it harder to see one's target during dawn and dusk, when the deer are more active.
