Gold tip laser 2's or kinetics

Post by abbyfireguy »

Howdy all,

Looking at Gold tip laser 2's or kinetics.
Any experience with the kinetics. They are real heavy comparitively.
Would they be a better choice for larger game like moose and elk and Grizz?
Carry better at distances like 50 yards?
Any input is appreciated.

I have been shooting GT Kinetics. 4" glow vanes with a RT hand Helical, Lumenok and Slick Tricks. @ 5 1/2' the 1oo grain weighs 503 @ 302fps, KE of 101. the 125 grain weighs 530 @ 296 fps, KE of 103. I have not shot them @ 50 yards but @ 40 the arrows will at times bury to the fletching. This is using a new Block Fusion Target (the big one). I think Mr Moose would hate this combination. I did find with these arrows that it was necessary to change which vane went into the rail to get three out of twelve to fly to the same POI as the others. I rotated the vanes until the problem corrected itself and then marked the vane that had to go down. Now all arrows have a mark on the down vane, just to be sure.

The GT laser II with a 125 ST weigh 470.

Interesting...I was contemplating the new Slick Trick xtrick ,they are heavy though, weighing in at 175 grns.
Is it necessary to have a helical twist on the fletching . I thought most cross bow bolts were straight fletch?

Most I have seen have some degree of offset. I make my arrows and do some experimentation with brass inserts, shafts and fletching. The Kinetics were giving me some trouble when I started shooting @ 40 yards with ST 100 and 125 grain. I tried a 5" helical about a year ago and that did not work. I thought that perhaps a 4" may. The 4" did and really was the secret handshake for my combination. I wanted to go heavy with carbon to slow the bow down. I was already there a year ago with this; Easton 2117 with 110 brass insert and aluminum threaded flat nock 395 grains. (125 point=520 grains). This arrow has an offset and shoots well. A helical is not required but it is working with my Kinetics. As a bonus the field points and the ST have the same POI. That is a first for me and my Exomax. Mechanicals make life so much easier but I like to tinker.
