The Vortex is a kick ass bow. Great all around rig. I love it, and would'nt trade it for anything. I would buy another tomorrow if I had too.

Blackjack I would consider the vortex to be an all around bow. Excalibur's website has a spot that lists the animals that it recommends the bow to take. I believe they do. Anyway I'm sure that any model can kill any animal but the vortex fits it really well.
Love my VORTEX !!!!!

Of the 5 I've owned to date, it-or the Phoenix-would be the bow I'd keep if it came to just keeping ONE. (Gasp!!!) Both are very rugged, simple, easy to maintain and extremely accurate bows. Particularly like being able to use a Flemish string-which can be change in less than 2 minutes with a simple stringer- and letting it down with a rope cocker.
Vortex, Phoenix, single-shot rifles and handguns.
Incurable tinkerer.
Why hunt? Simple, it's BASIC. Why breath?!

I believe they are all great bows but I have to say my Vortex is the cat's a$$!! I'm pretty sure he will be very happy with it.

i like mine so much, i gave my vintage exomax and exocet to my son and grandson. they would end up with them anyway, but i jus hadta have tha vortex... i like the others too, but i really like the vortex cuz i have learned alot here about these bows and have met some mighty fine people here that has helped me grow fond of this manufacturer's quality and reliabilty.
never had this info with the others... did'nt know there was such a place as this. i bet for 10-12 years i was on my own with the vintage bows.
boy, i fell into a great field of knowledge and experiance when i found this place.
i am greatful....
