Boltcutter Accuracy Question

Post by novacam »

Hey everyone. After standing in front of the broadheads section for quite a while and picking up every package I went with boltcutters. My guy said there was no need to fire a practice shot as it was going to be as accurate as my field points. Is this true? I'm set up for 18 yard broadside shot on mr black bear and don't want to blow it because I was trying trying to save a broadhead.

I've never shot a boltcutter so i can't answer if they fly same poi as fieldpoints. But i never shoot a broadhead at an animal that i have not confirmed it's poi...the animal being hunted deserves that much...just my opinion.
Good luck

I agree with you 100%, best to fire it and see it with my own eyes. Hope they're as accurate as stated though. How do ppl find the accuracy? I shoot firebolts and the stock field points. I always check with my compound so I will fo the same!!

I shoot boltcutters and they do have same poi as field points. They work good for me.But you should shoot them before you go hunting.Because what works for me may not work for you.

do you have a bh target?..
i got some boltcutters last year late in the season..shot them into my block at 20 then 30 yards..i think i may have adjusted my scope just a tad. but i do remember that i liked the way they shot ..very consistant..when i can ill shoot one or two right before i head out on a hunt just to help my confidance .

Definately waste a set of blades, they are replaceable. Boltcutters on my Crazy Farmer Arrows shoot right on with my 150 grain field tip arrows. 5 deer and 1 bear all pass throughs, and short recoveries.

I,ve shot the boltcutters a lot for groups at up too 50yds with firebolts and shot great groups but a few inches away from the 150 fieldpoint groups.I would never think of shooting a broadhead at game without shooting it first to check the poi. It,s only fair too the game your hunting for a quick clean kill.

I haven't used the Boltcutters over 35 yards, but the grouping was pretty close to that of the field points on Carbon Powerbolts with helical blazers. But the results could differ slightly on different shafts and fletching etc. This is one of the reasons I think there's always very different opinions about the same broadhead. Its best to take into account all the variable factors involved in an arrow , then through experimentation find the combination that flies best for you.
