g'day at 52 its time. l gave smoking up back in the early 90's for 7 years & took it up about 12 years ago, (dickhead) its now time again also l want to live long enough to enjoy all my excaliburs..l've been on the nicabate gum the strongest, but so far l'm doing ok, even having a beer or ++++++++ l seem to be winning the battle. l work in the mining industry & a couple of weeks ago breathing & lungs were terrible + we also had a major dust problem, water karts down & not enough of them..anybody else just done the same as me & giving up..good luck if use are. regards frank

You can`t quit until you really want to quit . You can go through the motions, but YOU have to want too .
The last smoke I had was 18 years ago when I had a trailer sideways . It was have a drink or a smoke . I choose a smoke . My last temptation was a year and a half ago when my truck caught fire .
I got through it and so will you .
My mother quit while going through cancer treatment . Has not touched them since .
If she could quit after many years then any one could .
Be strong . And remember to take it one day at a time .

your right doe master. one day at a time..my mother died of (jack the dancer) 9 years ago, age 69 its a shocking death.. my farther is 78 he gave up when he was 50 years old & his farther a big man gave up at 50 as well & lived till he was 85. thats my aim..

I'm 5 years quit and still had a dream about it a couple of weeks ago. Rarely get the urge any more and it's not bad when I do.

smoked up to 75 butts a day . most days 50 to 60 , did not use many matches. My father died of lung and bone cancer. Started in the lung an moved to thebone , it was a slow painful death .Dad had quit smoking quite a number of years before his death . Mom had quit too but died of lung cancer a well in 99 . She basically drowned from the fluid in her lungs . Dr removed just over a litre from her lung while in hospital . Her Dr recommended I quit as I was a bad risk. Got it in my head that was it and have not had one since 99 .

It is not easy but I plan on being a nuisance to my children for a long , long time . .

There is a man known as Ozzy osbourne who has been addicted to every known substance in the world including bat blood. He said the hardest (and the last) thing he quit was ciggs. That says something right there!

Congrats on the will power so far blackjack!(and all others) keep it up and dont let yourself fool ya into having that puff. It will bring ya back into it full time.

Im planning on quitting soon but so far my doctor still wont prescribe that medically induced coma that i asked him for.

Good luck to you. Doemaster hit the nail on the head. I have never smoked but my wife did for many years. It took her a few attempts to quit and it didn't work until she was truly ready to quit. Be strong and good luck to you.

I am just trying to quit right now too. Done so a few times but always go back to it. The Dr. tells me that is normal and if I screw up not to worry because it is only one and start again instead of being discouraged about it. I have had 3 today but usually have had 7 by now. Baby steps.

g'day bugs. mate the last month or so on day shift l never smoked until the end of shift with a few beers & thought l had a handle on it. but night shift l'd end up smoking! but l must say the last 16 days have not been to bad, the nicabate help l had my chromo waiting when l few home after 2 weeks working away my mate said l'm gone now with the booze & all being at home but tonight playing in the shed throughing the tinnies down like they were going out of fashion testing the excals out l never thought about having a smoke ah...the body's telling me enough is enough

I am 61 never touched one since & never will i plan on killin tick toters til i am 95

Ozzy was the singer of black sabboth and used to have his own reality tv show. Not a bright man by anymeans.

One of his stage tricks was to bite the head off of bats story goes that the first time it happened a person from the crowd threw it onto the stage and ozzy was too high to realize it wasnt a fake bat like he thought it was

its been a stage trick ever since.

i quit 2/25/11 tha "cold" way after bout 46 years
jus set'um down cuz i wuz sick as hell for 3 days.
could'nt even stand to smell'um. so i put them down....
before that, i just bought a carton and opened a pack... only one cig out of it!!
to check my willpower, i had the open pack and a lighter close to me everday for a month. and 9 packs in the carton in the floorboard of my truck !!!!
never touched them except to give them to a friend that wanted them.

its hell when drink'n beer but i've got used to it... jus drink more !!!

my lungs sure can tell the difference.
