Is serving supposed to be in middle?
Is serving supposed to be in middle?
Put my new flemish string on and got to noticing that the serving is not in the center. Also the loop ends are not the same length, from where the loop is wrapped back into itself at the tag ends. Is this a problem or is it ok? Wondering if I should put my Excel string back on.
Re: Is serving supposed to be in middle?
Flemish strings are hand made so you get some irregularities. It can't be helped. My servings are consistently a few mms off. Same as the loops.

One mm = tn
Tn is a unit of measure in the state of Arkansas. Also known as thickness of a toe nail. You should see an Arkansas ruler, it comes in the shape of a foot.
Kinda smelly but convenient enough that just about everyone carries at least 1 of them and they are cheap to make.

I'm beginning to think this is a serious question.

Well . . .GaryL showed how the Oreo is an instrumental part of the fletching process. MM's could be an important part of the serving process.
I like MM's.

Thank you Boo, I didn't know if it had any affect on the string or accuracy. Mine is off more than a few MILLIMETERS
I figured they would not be exactly the same, just wanted to make sure all was OK before checking zero and hunting this weekend !
Re: Is serving supposed to be in middle?
You got good info from one of the most knowledgeable string makers on the forum. I couldn't pass up the chance to mess w/ him, wouldn't have done so if I didn't believe your problems were solved.

All is well ! No worries folks I don't get ill that quick ! That's part of what I like about you guys....and gals on here. I'm just glad that my string is "normal". I did have it jump under the string twice, using carbon express arrows with plastic nocks. I know, I'm gonna get some arrows from Dan Miller when I get these shot up. I talked to Dan and he told me that would happen with slick plastic nocks so I was real careful and roughed them up a bit with sand paper, hope that fixes that problem.
