bugs wrote:It is starting to look real pretty This may be my lucky charm to get my next turkey with my CB The patience is amazing I cant cut and nail outside when it doenst have to look great but I couldnt imagine cutting anything in detail let alone using a chisel and not needing to start with a new blank. I chiseled out hinges on the shed door and they were less than perfect but worked
Barn door hinge!! TARA Need to hide my chisel around you.
Now I just take an excalibur stock and trace around with chalk to get a rough idea what can get cut off.
To the band saw and cut it out;
And it looks like this;
Then I drill out the trigger hole;
And a very important part is the small centering hole to keep you lined up.
And it looks like this.
These holes will blend in and be gone after while. Whew! Thats a lot of pics.
STOP! At this point I have started blank done this far on the Trading Post for any do it yourselfer who wants to complete it from here. Thanks for looking.

Yep, me too! It reminds me why I don't do these things! I can see how I would bugger up the wood just a couple of moves!
You are good as well as methodical!
And now a lot of excess wood to take off. Break out the grinder.
Looking good Mike. Am I right in thinking that you can make the stock as long as a person wanted it to be. For example my Equinox stock is short for a tall guy like me. If and when I was able to have a custom stock made for myself could you make it longer so it would fit me more comfortably than the factory stock? Also, are these stocks you make setup so a person can use a Crank-a-roo? What would a factory stock be worth if I sold it?
Thank you,
Raymond
You're coming right along Mike. That lower piece you trimmed off the blank looks big enough for a shotgun forend. Don't throw it away! It's fancy enough to make some small item from it. I just finished stocking a M-12 Winchester and am finishing stocking a M-92 Win. now. I start carving the stocks in a few weeks. Gary
Raymond, I can make the draw anything you want. Do not see why a crank a roo could'nt be made to install. A brass thread insert and a flater butt should do the trick. You dream it up and I will let you know if its do able.
