Welcome you will enjoy your Vortex. You will need to purchase a back up string and string changer if you haven't already. The serving on the string needs to be waxed after about 25 shots, the string will last a long time but the serving will break down if you shoot it a lot and don't keep it waxed. This is really the only area I've seen as a new owner that needs special attention.

Nothing to learning an Excal. I am a gal who only went hunting a couple times with a shotgun and started with my Excal 3 years ago. I got my first deer this year. Lots of videos on here, I was lucky enough to have a member close by give me a hand but Excals are accurate and easy to shoot and maintain.
To be a vegetarian is to listen to the live carrot gradually screaming as it drowns in a pot of boiling water …. Which is more ethical to you ?? :roll: :lol:

So does it come already pre-waxed, or do I need to wax my serving before my first shot??

wax the serving before your first shot. also i use rail snot lubericant on the rail. enjoy your excalibur they are the best

Does this also apply if I am just trying to stretch the string by having it cocked over night ?
