The best sandpaper that I've run across is floor sander, sand paper. I cut it up and it last far longer than any others. I get the 80 and 100 grit and than use regular sandpaper for the rest.
Sanding will be a pain I bet, I think it is the worst part of building anything Not that I build much but have tried a few things. Believe it or not I got an A+ in grade 8 work shop and an A in metal shop.
Now someone will have to come help me put my parts on that new stock, (hint hint Big John )
To be a vegetarian is to listen to the live carrot gradually screaming as it drowns in a pot of boiling water …. Which is more ethical to you ??

Hard part is not rounding over the sharp edges.
Here's another useful tool for your shop or around the house. Attach sandpaper to a 10-inch length of 1-inch diameter PVC pipe. I glue two grits on the pipe, 60 or 80-grit on one side, and 100 - 120-grit on the other.
To fasten the sandpaper to the pipe, cut the sandpaper to size, then spray the paper and the pipe with adhesive. Let the surfaces set a few minutes before placing the paper onto the pipe. When the sandpaper is worn out, simply peal it off and apply a new one.
Use various diameter pipe for different radii.

I put an curvy edge to give the trigger finger area a better look. Got to be careful of the rail channel. The hard part is making a duplicate on the other side. You know if I made them all the same I would quit making them. Be bored to death. Now I am in heaven!
I look forward to viewing this thread every day so I don't miss any progress.
I have read the thread right from the start more than once.
Thanks for showing how it's done.

Do you wet the wood to raise the grain??
Thanks
Yes I do, but thats right before the finish goes on. You wet it and sand the hair off and repeat untill nothing comes up. Your getting ahead of the build along.
I made the arrow into a more ancient indian type. Thanks to GaryM. I had a great template to go off of. He always comes up with great idea's. Thanks Gary!
