Led turn signals question

Post by steve02dave »

Some websites recommend a pair of load resistors for LED turn signal lights. Will it work or burn out faster if I don't get load resistors?

From what I know you may need the load resisters for two reasons. Led signal lamps require very little current to operate. This small amount of current may cause the lamp out light on your dash to come on as it's looking for a set amount of current. Any less current it thinks there is a lamp out, if your car has this option. The other thing is that your signal lights may not flash properly as the current of the lamps is too small to make the flasher work, thus the load resisters to increase the current draw.

cheers

i know that you can use some small, cheap resistors from radio shack on the positive lead of each signal with heat shrink tubing wrapped around them and everything should work just fine and cheaper than the load resistors .
