I hunt Maryland mostly and they have moved the first day from sept 15 up to sept 7 so the skeeters get more blood this year. got me a big bottle of Avon skins so soft that works for me and just try to stay down wind of the deer anyway. I read that Maryland was trying to double the licence fee but it did not pass so glad of that but still cost 155.00 $ for nonresident licence just to archery hunt.can.t wait to get out and do some hunting and take a little break from fishing but will be doing both when out on the river. ( life is good!!!!)

I can hunt antlerless in Loudoun County, Virginia starting 1 Sept. I'm ready.

The license fees are getting a little bit ridiculous. I'm sure Maryland will follow suit soon. I will spend $290 on licenses just for myself to hunt Virginia. $111 for small game + $86 for big game + $31 for archery + $31 for crossbow + $31 for muzzleloader = $290. If I decide six tags aren't enough, I can buy six more antlerless tags for $31 and repeat as necessary. It bugs me that I have to pay one fee to hunt with my compound bow and another to take my crossbow.

I've got two teenage kids with the youngest being 16. This is quickly turning into a rich man's sport.

That there Avon SSS works great for sand knats, seem like the deer would smell it a mile away though. My wife got me some all natural repellant once and I swear you could smell that stuff 200 yards away. Seems like it lured the mosquitos too. I finally gave in and started using a thermacell.

They moved up all of Florida's Fall seasons by a week last year. The mosquitos are bad anyway so it doesn't really matter for that. Its just so many of the does still have fawns with them.

I thought about the thremacell but the wife says I smell so good that it makes for some good hunting at home! and most deer I,ve had down wind have smelled me anyway so I try to always stay downwind from them .

As of today I still have 45 days until deer season starts but bear opens on September 1st so that will be here soon. Can't wait!

Well i have jus 29 days n a wakeup til i go out to hunt. Fees are free fer me on my land owned or leased. 2 yrs ago they changed law so i get jus 1 Firearms tag/permit its a any deer permit. I can buy Doe permits at $7 each unlimited. I used to get 6 permits but now 5 fer free.

I turned 68 today... so my general license is lifetime now.... tags are of course not free but looking forward to my first year with my Exomax... first crossbow... my son got my Ben Pearson Spoiler plus.... nice old bow... can't wait for opening morning..... gotta get a ground blind... and a comfortable chair... just can't get this fat old man up that tree now.... even got me a nice Polaris ATV to get me in the woods.... my wife says... "why don't you just get a portable refrigerator and a coffee maker for the blind".... probably not a bad idea....
