It was supposed to had started raining yesterday afternoon, but as of right now, it still hasn't started yet. Before daylight I listened to a couple of coons fighting for a while to pass the time.

At 7:45 I heard some limbs break up on top of the ridge, but there had been a couple of squirrels cutting up there, so I figured it was them knocking crap out of the trees. I've got a bunch of limbs in front of me, so I can't really see that well up there. Directly, I saw a doe slowly making her way down off the ridge. She was at the far side of the saddle and when she got down to the bench, she gave me a shot then, but I wasn't comfortable with it, so I didn't even raise the bow. She started to go away from me, but then turned around and started coming back. In 10 minutes time, she only covered about 20 yards. She would throw her nose up every so often, so I know she was getting a slight wiff of me every so often, but couldn't get enough to spook.
She got about 25 yds away and must have gotten a good sniff, because she stopped, turned around and started to go back up over the ridge. Just as she turned, I flipped the safety off and raised the Equinox.

Reloaded and sat there for a bit and then started packing my stuff up. Marked where she had been standing so I could find it when I hit the ground and went over to have a look.
So far so good.

Looking a little better.
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/004-1-1.jpg)
This is starting to show some promise.
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/005-1-1.jpg)
OK, this is looking better by the step.
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/006-1-2.jpg)
Holy S**t! She can't be much further!
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/007-1-1.jpg)
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/008-1-3.jpg)
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/009-1-1.jpg)
Crap! Starting down the back side of the ridge!
![Mad :x](./images/smilies/icon_mad.gif)
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/010-1-1.jpg)
There she is!
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/011-1-1.jpg)

There's my arrow! So much for my wraps ("Just Passin' Thru").
![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/014-1-1.jpg)
Well, this at least explains why the arrow didn't exit. I hit the right side and this is the left front leg.
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/015-1-1.jpg)
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/016-1-1.jpg)
And this pretty well explains why she went about 80 yds! I hate heart shots! I would have much rather had lungs.
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/018-1-1.jpg)
She was standing uphill when I shot, so I went in what I thought was the right height, but didn't take into account the uphill angle she was standing at. I hit the edge of the stomach, liver, and slipped under the lungs and hit the heart. Fatal any way you go about it, but she made it over the ridge and onto the back side.
The new DaGriz knife christened in deer blood!

And finally back down at the food plot where I can get the 4 wheeler to her.
![Image](http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww184/Big58cal/Hunting/024-1.jpg)
She weighed an even 100 lbs and was 2.5 years old. She looked pretty rough though.

Got her soaking and cooling out in the cooler on ice right now.
