How Can I Identify What Model I Have?
I just bought a used Excalibur xbow. It is approximately 5-6 years old. How can I identify which model I have and the year of manufacture?
Thanks!!

Here you go.

Your cast straight riser carved tip model is surely older than 5-6 years.

The last year that the cast riser and carved tip limbs came from the factory was 1999/2000.
That is an Exomag I'm guessing.
185 lb draw weight.
16" power stroke.
Roll back those limb covers and the model will be printed on the front of the limb.
Your answer will be there.

By looking at the camo, I'd agree that it is a 185lb Exomag. Sounds like you got a great deal.

I rolled back the limb covers, and it is indeed an Exomax.
This is my first crossbow. I have been looking at them for a couple months now. I have to admit that I was intrigued by some of the compound crossbows out there; however, when I shouldered a few...wow were the front heavy. I shouldered a new Excalibur in a shop, and it was a completely different story! Very lightweight and well balanced! Those traits combined with their simplicity, accuracy, and reputation led me to want one.
I just happened to be at the right place at the right time! I can't wait to take it hunting. I foresee a newer model in my future for next year!!
Thank you all very much for the help!

Those older carved tip bows are really nice bows.Yours looks to be in very nice shape. Just dont use any string other than dacron.Have fun and let us know about your hunting adventures.chinook wrote:I rolled back the limb covers, and it is indeed an Exomax.

Re: How Can I Identify What Model I Have?
You got yourself one of the original 3 that commercially got Excalibur established. I recommend that you do not sell that bow. Unless you sell it to me! Keep it and target shoot/hunt with it. I have a 1997 model Exocet and love it. Killed several deer and some wild boars with it. The carved tipped limbs are so easy to string and perform flawlessly.
2001 was the changeover year to the magtip bows they now sell. You must use only the standard dacron string with your bow. They are available as a factory standard replacement, or you can have them made at a pro shop in your area. Flemish and Fastflight strings are not for you.
For what you paid, you got one hell of a deal. Wish it was me!!!!
Regards, Erik.

Re: How Can I Identify What Model I Have?
You can certainly use a Flemish string jus make sure its Dacron material. Fer some reason ppl seen to think that Flemish is a material, its not! Its a method or type of string maken. D97 or Fast Flyte is a string material Dacron B50 is a string material.
