Sighting in varizone scope.
20 yards (crosshairs) is fine
10 yards (chevron) is fine
At 30 yards (chevron), bolts are starting to move up and left a bit. About 2 inches up and same left.
Happening with both field tips and broadheads. (they are flying the same).
I assume I should make the adjustment with the crosshairs (down and right a bit) at 20 yards and then try the 30 yard chevron again.
Or should it be a combination of crosshairs and speed dial adjustment??
sighting question....

Re: sighting question....
I use a Vortex 3x crossbow scope and sight in using the second cross hair at 30 yards. The first cross hair is really close at 20 yards . That said, a cross wind will cause the arrow hit hit right or left.

Re: sighting question....
Try following the Video that came with your Crossbow for sighting in.
Skip 30 yards until you follow the Video instructions.
You will most likely find the speed ring setting needs to be adjusted and thats all. @ fifty ( 50 ) yards When 20 yards is set then go to ( 50 ) yards
Once you start to over think it you will spend a lot of time chasing your tail
Worked for me like a charm

Re: sighting question....
I just sighted in my varizone...as per one of the members on here. I sighted it in at 20 yards with speed set to the lowest setting, then moved back to 40 yards & adjusted the speed on the scope until I was able to hit the bullseye at 40 yards. I only made 2 speed adjustments on my scope. But when I was back at 40 yards I noticed I didn't have my scope set perfectly up & down so I had to rotate the scope just a bit so that my crosshairs were lined up vertically & horizontally.
After you are hitting the bull @ 40 then take at shot at 30 yards & you should be good to go.
Hope this helps.

Re: sighting question....
Use crosshair and set up dead on at 20 yards using an aiming point on upper part of target.
Move target out to 40 yards and using the 2o yard crosshairs again aim at the same spot you shot at 20 yards and shoot. You will hit several inches low.
Now simply aim at top again (no arrow needed) with the 20 yard crosshairs and adjust your speed ring to where the 2nd (40 yard) chevron is on the arrow you shot at 40 yards.
You are now sighted in to 50 yards.

Re: sighting question....
This is how I adjusted my scope for vertical alignment. Set a level sidewise on the rail with the CB setting on a table and adjust for level with paper under one side of the foregrip. Once the CB rail is level then move the level to balance on the vertical adjustment turret and twist the scope until the vertical turret is level. You can also test the setting by hanging a rope with a weight at 15/20 yards and check the vertical alignment with the CB level on a table and/or rest. Hope this helps & here is a picture of my Equinox with the Nikon BoltXr scope.
The scope rings are HIGH but I believe that MEDIUM would also work as the scope will hit the weaver style rail when trying to use the Excal rings.

Re: sighting question....
I always use a plumb line/rope/string with weight at 20 yards. The turrents are almost always "off" in relation to the vertical crosshair. Even on some of my high end rifle scopes. My shadow zone turrents were off a bit. Level the bolt rail, and use a plumb line down range. You can also use a piece of paper with two vertical lines on it (about 1/2" apart") and a horizontal line through the center of them. Obviously the vertical lines and the horizontal need to be pefectly perpendicular. Then you can use a level to set that horizontal line (and therfore the target) downrange. The two lines make it easy to adjust your vetical crosshair, since the cross hair tends to cover up a single line.
Then, your scope crosshairs will be perfect. Do it right, and use a bit of blue lock tite and you will never have to mess with your scope mounting again.
Cheers!

Re: sighting question....
sounds like you need to adjust your speed ring a fraz and level your scope.
these little things dont show up much at closer ranges but become more of and issue as you get out there..
i think if you are shooting high at 30 then you need to adj the speed ring to a faster setting

Re: sighting question....
This is what I do once the scope is installed and you are happy with the crosshairs.
Sight in at 20 yards with the main crosshair.
Make left/right, up/down adjustments until you get a bullseye.
Move back to 40 yards and use the 40 yard chevron.
Adjust speed ring until the arrow hits level with the bullseye (do not use the up/down adjustment on the scope for this. Use only the speed ring).
Then make the left and right adjustments until you get a bullseye.
Check again at 20 yards and it should be right on.
Your 30 and 50 will be too.
