Questions about crossing border with Crossbow
Hey All:
I just wondered how hard it is to get your Excal and equipment across the border and back from Canada?
Anyone done it an did they run into any issues?
This would be driving across, not flying.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Questions about crossing border with Crossbow
It's no issue whatsoever. Best that you drop into customs on the way down to get a green slip (proof of prior ownership) so they don't try to charge you taxes/duty on the way back.

Only crossed one time for the last Boofest. Crossbows were a non-concern, but when the customs officer[Canadian] asked flightattendant100 if he ever carried a gun in his truck, I remember thinking 'Uh-Oh'.....Here we go......

It must be a cowboy thing, and I think that's great.

Well with the move to Texas.
One requirement is a gun rack in all pick ups.
So guess what I bought today.

Re: Questions about crossing border with Crossbow
Easiest crossing I ever had was with a bow. Go in and register it on way over and at the boarder on the way back they just waved me on through. Gave me s*it for stopping at the window saying "I told you to keep going" I said "just making sure thank you"
Re: Questions about crossing border with Crossbow
Hmmm, when I tried to get a green slip I was denied because Excaliburs lacked a serial numbers. I was told I could only register something with a serial number. I have numerous green slips and white ones too for my firearms with serial numbers.Boo wrote:It's no issue whatsoever. Anybody have one for their Excalibur? Don, do you have one??

Nope, never bothered to try. I assumed you could get one. That's interesting. But is that good or bad?

Re: Questions about crossing border with Crossbow
Good that Excalibur does not have serial numbers the way I see it, and good that my M380 got home with ease.

Re: Questions about crossing border with Crossbow
Turkey Lips from the forum here stopped in to get his bow stickered - I believe he crossed with his Phoenix.

Re: Questions about crossing border with Crossbow
Have had green card for both my excaliburs , Y25 and exocet 200 . Nothing ever mentioned about a serial number being needed . Just a description on the card .

My old compound bow and my cameras at the time did not have serial numbers and all were registered.enormous wrote:Hmmm, when I tried to get a green slip I was denied because Excaliburs lacked a serial numbers. I registered at Canada Customs here in Chatham long before my hunting trip to Michigan.
