Arrow questions

Post by Old Mountain Man »

I am starting to fletch and would like to know what you all think about the best arrow diameter for a crossbow arrow that is shooting between 300 and 400 feet per second.
Has anyone ever used the Easton Full metal Jacket shafts?
What are the best flat nocks to use , aluminum or plastic? Also what would you all recommend for inserts , brass or aluminum , when using 150 grain broad head or the 125 broad head.
Thanks

Black Eagle Arrow'Zombies, 92 gr brass inserts, plastic rear nock, Blazer vanes with lots of helical and any 100 gr broadhead. It will shoot straighter than a cowboy in a gay bar.
You'll hear negative fees back on plastic rear nocks. I've literally shot them thousands of times with no issue at all. There are many benefits to good plastic nocks and no actual draw backs.

What he means is: They will shoot the wings off a fly at fifty yds.
Thats what I would reccommend as well, the Black Eagle Executioners would be hard to beat to!

There is nothing wrong with Full metal Jackets either. They are a heavier shaft which is good. Or comparable would be Laser 111 Pro's or Laser 1V.

BEA or Black Eagle Arrows make the Executioners and the Zombies. The Executioners are about a 300 spine and the Zombies are 25% stiffer. Weight is 9 and 9.1 gr/inch respectively.
The Executioners are barely affected by where you put the cock feather/vane and the Zombies are so stiff it will not matter where you put the cock vane. The spine in the Zombies should be far more stable for longer so it has long term economy.
Frank (Masboy) can attest to the Executioner's accuracy. He's put them through the mill more than once.
They all come in .001" and .003" straightness and to be honest there's no real world hunting difference other than they are a better shaft than we've all seen so far.

like said the executioners would be hard to beat ! the zombies sound great an if they shoot better than the executioners I don,t think I could shoot good enough to tell. but like the ideal of the stiff spine an not having to mark or fine the spine or worry about having the cock vane on the spine. I retired all my other arrows after shooting the BEA an now shoot them in all my bows !

Had one of my Easton Traditional only arrows shafts break at front of arrow
After over 100 shots stump hunting
Cut it down to 20" these are 500 spine 8.0gpi
Shot it with 100gn 125gn and 150gn
100gn was dead on along with 125gn
it was a crap shoot with 150gn
These are sold thru 3 rivers archery
