Trigger pull

Post by bwisner »

Just received my Axiom and tried it out. Two things I have questions about - noise and trigger pull. From searching the forums the noise seems to be par for the course. Being new to crossbows, I didn't know it would be so loud. The other item is the tough trigger pull - is this normal? The trigger is extremely stiff and difficult to "squeeze". It really feels like you have to jerk it to pull it back all the way. Does it loosen up for a smoother pull or is something wrong?
Thanks

Take the trigger box out of the rail and juice it w/ something like 'Tri-Flow or Rem oil. Juice your trigger box screws up w/ blue loc-tite and shoot it a bunch, it will 'shoot-in'

Ya the triggers on these brutes are a bit stiff. The latches are holding a lot of weight. Keep shooting it and it will wear in some and become smoother.
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

"Shooting it in" will decrease the pull a bit over time it won't alleviate the take up and possibly not the creep. If you can't get someone to 'work' your trigger, here's a possible solution: http://www.triggertech.com/

I recently bought the axiom as well as my first crossbow and noticed the exact same problems. The trigger has sofented up quite , I've shot over 1000 bolts . Then my serving went kaput so I replaced the string with a different style my local hunting shop had. Huge difference In sound . Love this crossbow, my wife caught me building a mount for above our bed.... Needless to say I had to abort mission

I think the string was called a Flemish twist or some thing like that. I'm still new to crossbows and hunting , still learning the language lol

Keep on building my friend as they get used to it. Once you get so many and take up all the walls they kick you out into your own room. What a wonderful day that was! LOL
