"The Hunt"

Post by rshook »

I just wanted to say hello to everyone and relate a short story that I hope has a great outcome. In 2007 I sold my Excalibur Exocet along with everything in the Right Stuff Package. Due to work related injuries that took their toll on my neck, shoulders and back I was not only giving up archery but hunting altogether.
After six years of rehabilitating myself I decided this was the year I could finally get back out in to the woods again. I was going to pick up a rifle at the gun shop and go out in the regular firearms season and "bag" my buck. After much thought and reading the Excalibur Forum as a guest, I came to the only conclusion a former crossbow user could come to... archery really is a brotherhood and taking game with a crossbow really is the only way to get back in the thick of things.
My new Exocet will arrive in the archery shop soon and I'll be getting the call to go pick it up. After six long years this archery season I will be back in "The Hunt".

Thanks everyone on the forum and thanks to Bill and Kathy for a great product.

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to the Archery world.
I hope you do well this season. Just being out there watching the world wake up usually makes my hunt. A kill is simply a bonus. :D

I know the feeling.

I also quit archery completely for the past several years due to lower back problems that I've had for most of my life. Both competitive 3D archery and bowhunting were a big part of my life for many many years but the pain and back problems that accompanied the shooting just wasn't worth it.

This year I decided to try crossbows and (knock on wood) no back issues so far. :D I really missed bowhunting and am looking forward to hunting this year with my Excal & TenPoint. I'll be in Maine 2 weeks from today bear hunting with my Excal. :D

Welcome back and hope you have an enjoyable and successful season!
