I ,ve shot lots of broadheads an they all seerm to get the job done with a well placed shot. I like to shoot an practice with the same heads an arrows I hunt with an just sharpen or replace the blades an have found the all steel slicktricks to be one of the toughest an best flying heads I ever shot with good penetration . the Magnus stinger is not as tough but have better penetration than any heads I,ve shot with good flight an will be on my little vixen when the big boys are on the move.

I am for mechs, first choice being spitfires.i shoot field tips into my target. I have never found a fixed blade that will shoot the same as field tips and I hate having to resight when hunting season gets here and mechs have been putting meat in the freezer since 2000. there is no doubt less moving parts is USUALLY the most reliable but even a fixed blade head is not foolproof in my opinion and everyone has their own

now the fixed blad crown can start beating me up because of my post  :P :P .

I've found a few fixed blades that hit right with field points from my bow. With today's manufacturing processes most broadheads are consistent enough as far as tolerances to shoot to the same POI from head to head. When I first started out I would practice with the heads I was going to hunt with then sharpen them or replace blades with new ones before hunting. Today I stick with a couple brands I trust and just spin test them before hunting.

BTW - I did find such a small detail such as fletching (specifically helical) can make the difference between a broadhead that hits close to field points and one that groups exactly with field points. Slick Tricks with a 4° helical fletch were close, but with an 8° helical fletch was right in the same group.
The heads I actually use are the same with both fletching helicals, though.

To MJK and Bowmaker:
Congrats to both of you on your first xbow kills! Hope you have many more! :D

FWIW my field points hit about 1" high at 30 yds when using the same weight points as the Stinger 4 blades, I suppose due to extra drag on the blades during flight. I go up 25 grains on the FPs and they hit almost the same POI as the BH's, close enough for me anyhow. To each his own but I still like to practice with exactly the same thing I hunt with, that way there is no doubt in my mind where the arrow is going. Confidence in your equipment is a huge factor.
