18 yards with my new Excalibur 355 - diablo arrow w/150gr bolt cutter.
Was just sitting on the ground along a tree/brush line in some (also new) ASAT leafy camo thinking there is no way he is not gonna spook. There were a lot of deer moving and I was short on time and didn't want to make a racket going all the way to my tree stand... so I decided to see how good ASAT leafy is at ground level, point blank! I was a big brown lump in a sea of mostly green!
He came at me from about 80 yards out - walking straight at me but with the wind in my favor. I had him in the scope the whole time. He would stop every 10 yards or so for a few seconds eyeballing me but kept coming each time. At 20 yards he stopped and then with barely a second glance he started grazing - and within a heart beat gave me a perfect broadside. A clean double lung hit and I found him about 60 yards away about 45 minutes later. He was a perfect gentleman and expired 5 feet off a old fire road so I could drive right up with the tractor.
