fletching questions
fletching questions
is there any difference in a straight fletched bolts and ones that are right helical fletched as for accuracy and can you use both and still be consistent if bolt weights are close to the same for 2219 and gold tips both around 430 gr.
Re: fletching questions
I had my arrows fletched straight by mistake by a pro shop, when I got home I noticed them....called them back and he told me "yeah I seen they were for a crossbow and fletched them straight" even though my work order was for a 2 degree right offset
....I shot them anyway and they flew great out to 50 yards with slick tricks....now I lightened them up a bit and went with a 1 degree....they still fly just as good as the straight....

Re: fletching questions
A helical fletch is the way to go for the best accuracy I would recommend the Arizona E Z fletcher bolt model in helical with bohning balzer veins and the use of an arrow squaring tool for the best arrow you can make. I use this combo along with many others here with great results.
The aluminum and carbon shafts most likely will group in different places but I would bet it would not be drastic.

A 2219 at 430gr. is very lite.. 100gr. head ? Not much weight up front on a 2219... Ron

Re: fletching questions
The gold tips with brass fronts are weighing out 400 to to 405 gr with a 100 gr target point. The 2219 are 422 to 427 gr with 100gr target point, can move up to 125 gr point on the gold tips to make them closer in weight. If that weight is to light then what would be suggested on the 2219. Am using a Arizona Easy Fletch for blaser vanes, so far the 2219 are shooting great. But are they to light?
Re: fletching questions
I haven't shot an arrow with a helical fletching out of a verticle or crossbow in 15 years. In my experience a 2-3 degree straight offset works just as good.
