Re: ADF ON YOUR EXCAL
I really think some people would have something negative to say or be critical of someone they even agreed with. You've invested a lot of $$$ and you should add what you like to your xbows. The adf system just makes good sense and if someone doesn't like it, in their face!...how many of those same people have house insurance, travel insurance, life insurance????

Nothing wrong in my eyes with an ADF unit. I put one on my 355 nearly as soon as I bought the bow. It's awesome insurance. I've watched 2 people dryfire my 380 at Boofest!

These MECHANICAL DEVICES are made by humans, therefore they will fail. Probably will last a very long time, and you might never see them fail in your lifetime, but all mechanical devices DO HAVE A LIFE TIME and will fail. Therefore it is not really any insurance at all is it?amythntr@verizon.net wrote:Quite frankly, I do not understand the criticism that certain forum members throw at others for wanting to have an insurance policy for a "just in case" scenario. We were all provided with new facts over these last ten days....from an acquisition of Excalibur to an assurance that nothing will change from Bill T and Peter B....bolt chucker wrote:ADF at $60 each is cheap insurance. I bought all 3 of my excals new. Over $2,000 invested in them. why not $60 more per bow. If I bought them used that's would be a different story
I think we all have lived through scenarios where we panicked and the worst never happened....but I also believe that we have experienced where we thought the effect of a change would be minimal and it turned out to be worse than what we expected!
I just don's see what is wrong with providing ourselves with a sense of comfort in purchasing spare parts....especially if someday we will use them or they make our Xbow more safe in the short term....
I think if Excalibur offered an insurance product that guaranteed lifetime repair work to their line of Xbows (to original and subsequent owners) for a reasonable one time fee....I dare say the majority of those responding with, "the sky is falling" would jump all over it and sign up!

The only true way to ensure that your protected against a DRY FIRE is TO BE SAFE IN YOUR OPERATION OF THE CROSSBOW!!!!!! If you follow safe handling procedures and ensure that you NEVER DEVIATE from them, then you can never have a dryfire.
To trust in a mechanical device for safety like this, when it is your personal actions that create the best safety insurance is, to me, just silly.
That is plain and simple.
If you want a ADF, go and put one on, but please do not rely or trust them.

The above says it the best!... I would rather rely on the ADF...than a safety which can EASILY get bumped into the FIRE position (with no ADF).....colouredchameleon wrote:Agreed. It does for me anyway.thestuz wrote:i put one on mine... just because they make good sense...
I see nothing wrong with protecting your investment.
I feel better about others shooting my crossbow .
Hauling my bow up and down my tree stand.
Carrying my bow without an arrow loaded while walking through dense brush or crossing a fence line or over uneven terrain.
Transporting my crossbow to and from my hunting spot on my 4 wheeler without an arrow loaded.

Yes amythntr@verizon.net ADF would be good for you.
Personally I use my crossbows as I have with rifles for well over 40 years. I treat all bows as if they could fire at any moment.
Re: ADF ON YOUR EXCAL
I actually pulled the adf out of my 380 after 1 week of owning it, for my own reason. Both Peter and Rob have seen my bow and have the picture's from this past year's moose hunt on how I put these thing's through the ringer. I made it quite clear that warranty will never apply to my Excal's as they alway's get messed with one way or another. Between trigger job , custom string , Adf removed and treated like crap ! My Excal is the last worry of my hunting excursion's. The ADF doe's work and is cheap insurance, I'm just one that will buy new limb's if the ill fated event ever happen's?

HUH??????? Is my bow going to catch fire or float away in a flood? My bow don't fly on airplanes and if plane got in trouble I am sure my bow wouldn't be on my mind. I break a limb I don't intend on burying in a coffin and having a funeral for it.
