Re: Wild turkey
Can't wait till spring!!!! We can use crossbows on turkey's in the spring time. We are allowed two toms or Jakes. Just bought a few decoys and a box call. Even the wife is thinking about doing it. Should be fun!!!!

A lot depends on the food sources also, our local birds eat a lot of beech nuts an corn depending on the season. In the winter they feast on pig manure a neighbor spreads, the sound of a manure spreader is the best turkey call ever! A couple yrs ago I walked into a field where close to a hundred were munching on pig poop, the air was vibrating with that many taking wing, impressive sight.

Re: Wild turkey
Thanks for that, it sounds delicious,
I don't think I would fancy tucking into a plate of roast turkey that had been getting a fill on pig poop,
But in general I think I can gather what the flavour is like, I've had farm yard free range chicken and that differs from commercial free range chicken in a similar way, with intense dark meat, well developed legs but not much breast meat, and a slightly dryer texture most probably from the lack of fat which is no bad thing..
Thanks all for that, very informative
