Cutting carbon bolts
What is the best way to cut carbon bolts to make them shorter. Is there a way to cut them with something people have in their garage. If not can someone recommend an economical saw to cut carbon bolts. Thanks

Re: Cutting carbon bolts
I cut them with a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel. Cut slightly long and true on a disc sander. Its more "shade tree" than an arrow saw but I didnt have to buy anything. If you make a jig for your disc sander it will sand to an exact length as well.
Re: Cutting carbon bolts
Same here,,use a dremel tool with a fiber wheel on it. I took and cut a slot in a piece of aluminum 1.5" angle about 3' long and duc tape the dremel tool to it under neath with the fiber wheel sticking up thru slot just enough to cut the carbon shaft, then with a stop (piece of wood to put the end of the shaft at the length I want,,lay the arrow on the wheel and spin it to cut to exact length and works great for a somewhat arrow saw. I just screw everything to a wood bench so that nothing moves. Not near any archery shops for 50 miles so it works great, and all arrows weigh out the same on a grain scale. Just have to go slow and easy as I don't cut a lot of arrows too much but works like a charm.

Re: Cutting carbon bolts
If you want to send them to me, and pay shipping, I'll cut them, and square them for you. No charge.

Re: Cutting carbon bolts
Thanks for the offer xcaliber. My dad has a dremel tool so I think I will try that and save the money on the shipping. Thanks again.
Re: Cutting carbon bolts
That's all good. Set it up and cut the first one, or two a few inches long to practice. Dremel tool held tightly like said above will do an excellent job. i have an arrow saw, so if you decide to do the round trip, let me know. It would be about $12 total for shipping!
Good luck, let us know how they turn out.

Re: Cutting carbon bolts
I made a cut off jig, I think the dremel tool should work just fine, but I didn't have one so I used my air cutoff tool.
It's simple made and didn't take long to make.
I cut 8 arrows today and all were with in 2 gn's
Then I make sure the ends are sq. using my G5 ASD
Hope this helps give you some thoughts on how to make one.
