Nanny Down

Post by robertyb »

I gave myself three days to kill a deer with my new Matrix before leaving on an extended fishing trip. I saw nothing yesterday on the opener after hunting morning and evening.

This morning I was set up on the edge of one of my favorite valleys about 30 feet up in a tree on the side of a ridge. At 8:40 I had a nice 3 point buck come in and rub a tree in front of me. At 8:49 he jerked his head up and took off like his tail was on fire and I was like what the heck??? Then I saw a large doe coming in fast like she was mad. She got to where the buck had been and stopped to sniff. Bad mistake as it presented me with a 30 yard shot which I proceeded to take with my new Hybrid Matrix 330 shooting 402 grain BEEs with a luminock. I did not get a pass through as the broadhead (G5 Montec) lodged in her offside front leg. She took off and fell about 90 yards from where she was shot. Destroyed the arrow as it broke in the middle of the vanes.
I will process her on Tuesday and head out fishing Wednesday.
