gamecam pics from southern ohio
I have had the game cam off for a few weeks now, tired of burning film for racoons, does, turkeys, & fawns. Put some film back in Monday evening, and all the pics (24) were shot by Wednesay, plus 12 missed because I ran out of film in the camera. Got them developed and got a suprise.
Started off as usual:
then it got a little better:
then the crowd grew:
finally a better one drifted in for a look:
Sure wonder what the 12 I missed were

Carl,
Just plain old shelled corn. They are only eating about 100-150# a week. Sure hope they are fat & tasty come season
I sat in my ladder stand while the fawns & their mom ate the other evening and could hear then "crunching" the corn
We've been working on "culling" the scraggly racked bucks at this farm for a few years now and it looks like some nicer bucks are showing up now. I'm so used to shooting the "culls" now I'm not sure what I'd do if a decent one shows up. I do have one self-imposed rule though. If it isn't a good double lung shot it walks!

Sooner or later some nice bucks will show up for the cam. The 8 pointer looks pretty good I would be tempted if he showed up during archery season. I know there are bigger bucks out there, but I get 3 buck tags a year and whats the odds of getting 3 gaint bucks in one year on a small farm? I like to get a good buck under my belt first and then get picky. I moved my game cam to a whole new area after seeing 3 nice bucks on my hay field last weekend. One of the bucks looked to have around a 20' spread. The cam has only had 14 pics taken as of this morning At the new spot this week a bit slower than it has be getting on pic Numbers. I will pull the film this weekend and hope I got the nicer bucks pics on this roll of film. I bet I will have some turkey pics on this roll to as I have been seeing a group of toms in that area during the day. Sounds like you are feeding the corn to. I am running about 200lbs a week at this time but mid Sept The deer really starting eating more. I am lucky I buy the corn bulk by truck un bagged as I am a farmer that saves alot of money on corn
The bucks on that farm have not been very good racks. The one I shot last year was typical.
We've killed off a good many of the "culls" over the past few years, and the racks are slowly improving. Still not much to get excited over, but the landowner (and me) have marked certain bucks as "off limits" to shoot. Last year there was a 6 pointer with very good mass, beam length, and spread. We told the other hunters to let him live to pass on his genes! There is one 10 point I would shoot, as he has a very good rack, and has been there long enough to have offspring in the herd now. Probably won't get the chance though, he's old enough to be very cautious now, too
