The string has to be Dacron, but the exact length I am unsure of. There are guys here who have and use that bow, so the information is coming..

The astro daco company went out of business in 1985. As Pydpiper stated, you need to have an older style DACRON STRING for that limb (DO NOT USE ANY OF THE NEWER, FASTER STRINGS AS THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR LIMB.. I am not sure what the length is required for the Hornet model, but for the Scorpion version, it was the same length as the older version Excaliburs (Relayer, Vixen ect.)

Sometimes Astro Daco was not that good in production and mismatched parts. If you could measure the limb, tip to tip, I would check with a Scorpion and see what the difference is, if any. IF it is a shorter size, you might need to get a custom string, many (string builders) on here could do that for you.

What do you plan to shoot with your new bow? In general, it's probably best to buy the best arrows you can afford, assuming you're interested in accuracy and being able to use the arrows over and over again. Were you able to determine the draw weight of the bow?

As for accuracy you will not get anything close to what you get with an Excalibur. At 20 yards expect to get a group of 6-8" (15-20cm). The safety on these bows as well as the 12lb trigger pull made it almost impossible to get tighter groups.

As for arrows, I would get Easton aluminum in 2216 range (20-21"). These are the arrows which usually came with this bow. Use a target point of 100 grain and you should be good for many years. Remember that with this bow, a cheap arrow might break and cause a partial dryfire. A dryfire or partial dryfire with these limbs could cause complete limb failure and then the bow is ruined as there are very few of these limbs left as they were stopped being made back in 1985 or so.
