This is my son's first hog and his first harvest with the 380 he recieved for Christmas ( thanks George - Mainstreet). This one gave him a 8 yard broadside shot, the arrow passed through - GT Laser3 - G5 Striker. This is a trophy hog of a lifetime perhaps. The biggest cutters to come off these ranches to date. Not bad for first hog!

We hunted just west of Odessa on several ranches that a friend of mine leases and operates hunts on. This is free range hog hunting in Texas oil country. We hunt roughly 50 square miles of territory. I have been hunting these ranches for over 15 years now. We lucked out with great weather and had temps up to 30 degrees Celsius. Majority of hog hunting is done from 4pm to midnight. We use Fenix flashlights with red filters taped to bows if moonlight does not do the trick. This is legal in Texas, anything goes for hog hunting. All of our stand locations are on waterholes with feeders or baited daily by us. All of the gang were shooting Excaliburs this year. These big hogs are very smart critters, the ability to shoot with minimal movement goes along way. Several of our guys had run in's with monster hogs but as they learned, you must be ready and alert 150% of time if your going to bag one of the big guys.
Yes sir!! You guys did good. that first boar hog surely does have some nice cutters, and he looked to be one of the smaller ones,i also liked that two tone white face black hog. We have a few white mixed hogs on our property, I took one this year but there is a least two more. Its just me but if they come in as a group I always try for the lighter colors, I know ,big deal.. Congrats to all of your party, you got some fine eaten ahead,..........

Them cutters on yer boy's hog are in really good shape, it'll make a nice skull mount if'n you go that way! Great pic's and good hunt! I can taste the slow hickory smoked pulled pork now!

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.-Blondie,
The good, the bad, the ugly
We will have bratwurst sausage made out of all the hog meat, great on BBQ. Skull mount for sure on my son's hog. I asked him if he wanted to mount it he said no, skull is good. Wish we had someone in SW Ont with beetles, I hate boiling/ cleaning hog skulls more than any other skull. Greasy and hard to clean.
That jacket is King of The Mountain wool. Very good stuff, lasts a lifetime and there is nothing warmer than this high quality wool. Pricy stuff but worth every penny.
