How long after?

How long after?
I had a triple bypass operation 2 weeks ago. Can someone tell me how long it takes before I am strong (and pain free) enough to be able to cock my Vortex (200 lbs)?

If it were me I would take my crossbow with me to my next heart specialist appointment and let the doctor cock it. I would than ask the doctor how long to wait.

Glad you're ok, you have to ask the doctor, it would be pulling 100#.

X2 alot of times we don't realize the amount of strain we put our bodies through on a normal day doing everyday stuff.Species8472 wrote:If it were me I would take my crossbow with me to my next heart specialist appointment and let the doctor cock it. I would than ask the doctor how long to wait.
Couple that same day with any type of surgery and most of the time you notice pretty quick. I.E. when my wife had brain surgery last fall (Nov) for an anuryseum , she wasn't allowed to do anything strenuous for awhile due to the extra strain of blood and the presume those same everyday activities caused
Everyone is different but it's best to get a docs opinion and go from there. Esp with the strain of cocking

A persons body will usually let them know when it's time ...... If we would only learn to listen

To do so I suspect you may discover guickly how much stress you will able to handle as SWAT moves in to take you down.Species8472 wrote:If it were me I would take my crossbow with me to my next heart specialist appointment and let the doctor cock it. I would than ask the doctor how long to wait.
Followed by an extended period of confined restricted activity with plenty of down time relaxing in small locked space.
With the only worry being not to drop the bar of soap in the shower.
Get a crank if you feel being able to shoot it is that important.
But maybe there is a life lesson here you are missing.
Stressing over something that is not that important in the big scheme of life.

Here is the honest answer from an admittedly totally biased American physician:
make an appointment with your Canadian doctor. By the time you get that appointment you will be well enough!!!
disclaimer: just trying to add a little humor(humour). I do like the idea of bringing the crossbow in and letting the doc try to cock it as the best recommendation. just don't bring any bolts with you...

You're only paranoid if everyone isn't out to get you.

Re: How long after?
I had quadruple bypass surgery last Feb. 28th.
I was shooting my Excal Vortex and M330 by mid Sept. before deer season opened with no problems. Do NOT push it. If you tear your sternum open they either have to ignore it and let it heal wrong or totally redo it again. You do realize that all that is holding your chest together is glue and wire I hope.
My advise would be to get a C2 crank cocker and let it do the work for you.

Mine was Sept. 2013 and my doctor said that year was out for any shooting. I got his blessing the next year. I was about 10 weeks before I was mostly painfree. Hope this helps. Don't rush it and best wishes. PS I shoot an Exomag carved tip and use a rope cocker.
