Quills and bolt cutters
Quills and bolt cutters
So I bought the bolt cutter broadheads and put them on the quills that came with my 335,I went out to sight it in and found that I am shooting all over the place ,having a real hard time at 20 yds. I have 1 that is dead center,1 that is an inch or two either way and 1 that is nowhere close. An thoughts.
Re: Quills and bolt cutters
Your bh's are not aligned true to the arrow. Put your arrows on an arrow spinner and spin them, noting the very tip of the broadhead as it spins. If there is a wobble, either the bh or the arrow/insert combination is not square. You can try to square the insert but it may be that the arrow shaft is not square, then again it could be that the bh is not manufactured true either. Any arrow/bh combination that you cannot make to spin true goes to the field point heap. When you get a combination that spins true................save it for that purpose.

Re: Quills and bolt cutters
I reshot today with field points and it shot fairly close to where it was considering the minor changes I made while trying to sight in with the bolt cutters.
Re: Quills and bolt cutters
you may also want to try an O-ring or Nylon washer behind the broadhead and align with the fletching. it might correct the issue, if not, try switching up the broadheads on to the different bolts. Really most will group within 1-1.5 inches, so it sounds like only one of yours is far out of whack. Good luck!
PS- i know you already invested in a pack of the BC's, but Excal does make them in 'Broadhead Alignment technology' as well, making it easier to tune them to the fletchings. our customers say it has worked well with a noticeable difference.
