I went home and took out the crossbow, treestand and camo gear, got into my "civvies" and went back out to find the deer. I was close to a subdivision so I wanted to remain "low key" whilst lurking about the forest.
(looking for my dog.... )
PS - 4'th deer from the same tree in 4 years! I bought a big new wheelbarrow this year but it ain't got the ground clearance my old one had! I got 'er stuck in the mud a few times. I called home to see if Chris was on the bus yet and he was, so I had to haul this one out on my own.
BTW - She had about 50 gallons of cold well water through her by the time I was done, right out of the old garden hose.

No blood trail? That seems weird. What kind of broadheads are you using Mike?
I took a small one during gun season last year right through both lungs and it was the same story. Some blood when I hit her and then a couple of drops after that until she dropped 60 yards later. My bullet went through soft tissue and I don't think it ever expanded, it was embedded in a tree trunk behind where I shot her.

I saw a doe and 2 fawns on morning stand shot under the doe at 35 yards in the golden rod
, saw a monster 9 point on an afternoon drive he went right by me at 20 yards but offered no shot .... Ch had a beauty 12 point sneak slowly by him on the next drive but no good shot opportunity ...
only saw 2 racoons on the evening stand .....
CH , VA , and I will be shooting a goose field at Armstrongs in the a.m.
Randy S. will arrive at the bottle neck at 9:00 am .... he knows Chris will be in the stand , so wave your position to him when he walks in at 9:15 am... he will settle in ..... and we will start the walk thru at 9:30 am .

Our season opens in the morning (Oct. 2) and I'm not expecting much action
The acorns are dropping everywhere, and there's no pattern to where they will be feeding, so I'll set by the food plot, but there's only been a couple a day tripping the gamecam there, and the last ones I saw were fawns
But.......... they'll be back someday, and I'll be there
