Off with the Dis- apator bars or not that is the Question???

Post by DaveShooter »

Whom has taken off the Dissipator bar set up on the front end of your bows and just left the S5's shock suppression system on their bows? I wanna quite bow down but also take off some front end weight as well too. Have a Danny Miller Flemish string and buzz- buster string silencers already on the Equinox string. I know it would take off a couple ounces off the bow for sure. Was just wondering is all.

They would certainly help if you ever had a dry fire with that flemish string. If you have the ADF on the Beast, I'd say you could take them off.

No ADF system just reg scope mount or old school. my way of thinking after looking at some of the older exo-series bows they didn't have all that stuff on the front end is all. Not really worried about the noise levels figured the S5's would save the bows butt for sure. :D

My Equinox came with the D-pads installed on the bow. Never even thought about taking them off. I know some of the guys took them off to make it lighter but that was never an issue with me.

To me the cost (added weight) doesn't exceed the benefit (marginal sound reduction). 86'em! But that's just my preference.

They protect your limbs more than you may think. Cheap insurance is way to look at them. I would add them if you own a Micro or Matrix NOT remove them. Just installed a set on my 380.

When the Phoenix was introduced I ordered one right away. First thing I did was remove the DBs. I saw very little benefit (in noise reduction) in having them.
Then I tried the S5s and they did reduce perceived noise & vibration, but when I had another person shoot my bow with them and another Phoenix without them while I listened (but couldn't see which bow was shot) I could not tell the difference.
The best method I've found to reduce noise is a heavier arrow (I shoot 400gr from the Phoenix) and a Boo dacron string with catwhiskers.

Thanks all for chiming in on this question. I agree about heavy arrow and Flemish string always have believed that one for sure and just for the extra you know what string silencers. I can see where the string slaps up against the S5's even with proper BH adjusted on the string. As I keep my string adjusted back or to the 2nd line on the main frame...
