FPS, Does This Sound Right?
First the disclaimer: I understand that the listed FPS is never what things truly are.
Equipment:
Matrix Grizzly
Custom Flemish String
18" Spynal Tapp bolts w/100gr tips (Total Weight 413gr)
REDS System
Air Brakes
Brake Pads
RESULTS:
1st & 2nd Bolt: 277 FPS
3rd Bolt: 276 FPS
I just thought that it'd be faster is all.

Re: FPS, Does This Sound Right?
That adjusts to about 298 FPS with the arrow weight. If you have a heavy Flemish String on it, that's pretty good!

I have a custom string from 8ptbuk which I love.xcaliber wrote:That adjusts to about 298 FPS with the arrow weight. If you have a heavy Flemish String on it, that's pretty good!
What do you mean that it adjusts to 298 FPS with the arrow weight?

Re: FPS, Does This Sound Right?
Dan means at the 350gr arrows it would be in the 305 fps area. 63gr heavier =a loss of 21 fps area=285, then add the extra string weight n there you go
Re: FPS, Does This Sound Right?
Yup, I'd go with a much lighter arrow. 413 grain is too heavy for that bow in my opinion.

Re: FPS, Does This Sound Right?
Well that's just great. Jerry at South Shore Archery recommended that I go with a 110gr brass insert instead of the 92gr.TPM wrote:Yup, I'd go with a much lighter arrow. 413 grain is too heavy for that bow in my opinion.
Only $125 wasted because I don't know and asked him for his expertise. I'm not bashing him, great guy, great service and great product. I just don't understand why he'd recommend that bigger brass insert.

Re: FPS, Does This Sound Right?
Your FPS is correct using those arrows and string as Vixenmaster stated in his earlier response. No funds were wasted and those arrows will hit like a hammer. Shoot On Big1!

Whoa my friend don't getstid excited, All you did was trade a few fps fer an arrow that will certainly put the smack down on a tick toter. I have killed many a bean eatin varmit wid 600gr + arrow weights n watched them crumble! I have shot many deer thru both shoulders wid them heavy hitters.TheBig1 wrote:Well that's just great. Re: FPS, Does This Sound Right?
Those arrows will work fine just your long range trajectory may suffer a bit. I'm just saying that's not the arrow weight I'd use for a bow with those specs. I shoot an older Phoenix and it's about the same specs as the Grizzly. My arrows have a total weight of around 380 grains.
