paulaboutform wrote:Good luck finding him intact in the morning Mike. What was the setup? Was he slightly quartering towards you. My first thought was quartering towards and a liver shot...still fatal. Were you using your micro? What was your arrow setup? Which broadhead did you shoot? .....sorry for the million questions but I'm too busy working to even get a hunting licence and as I've said, I'm hunting vicariously through friends.

Since my stock maker went hunting and I have no stock for the 355 Matrix I was hunting with my Native Rampage. I use some arrows that I got from Don several years ago. They are 18" Carbon express KVs. Normally I shoot executioners but I was running low so these works great. For broadhead I was using the Ramcat 100 grain. Those Ramcats will rip him a knew one. Great broadhead.

If you have yotes in the area he will be reduced to hide and bones by morning. I had this happen once and went out and listened for the yotes yipping and howling. followed the racket right to my buck.. I carry a sidearm so was not concerned about the coyotes but it is a good way to find a wounded deer...lol

Good luck ! Most of the time when a shot deer flicks its tail like that after being shot , Its been shot in the liver . They'll travel around 50/100 yds and bed down . I feel confident you'll find him quick .

This old man likes the sun to see well. I used to yearn for tracking deer in the dark but I am long over that. LOL Besides this swamp in huge and it is Cedars then open, and repeat. Darn easy to get turned around in and then it is spend the night. Not these old bones. For me that would be asking for a hospital stay. Those days are over.
There have been several people that got lost in that swamp and came out looking like death warmed over. One guy came out in the middle of the night cate getting turned around and went to the nearest farm house to get help. As soon as they saw him in his smeared up camo face and clothes torn and I bet a crazy look to be sure they called the cops.   That swamp I respect.
Sounds like the Sheboygan Marsh. Over 8000 acres.. That place and Killsnake are the reason I bought my Garmin Colorado 400.
