I got back up in the stand and radio`d my findings . My nephew informed me a buck went by him at a good clip right after the shot . We checked the grassy area there and there was no blood . I would rather a clean miss than a wounded deer .
I took a picture a day or two later there . I swear it looked clear .

The next day started much the same way . Shots just after legal to the north . But I was in a different stand to get maybe a different perspective . At about 7:45 I caught movement off my left side . Here comes my friend from the day before .

He was slightly quartered onto me . He looked up at me and I was not about to let him leave . When I shot he bounded forward but upon trying to land on his front legs he did not have immediate support . He came crashing down on top of a small blowdown . When he regained his composure he ran full tilt to the cedars 20 yards behind me .
I waited the longest 20 minutes and got down once again . This time there was no doubt with the blood trail . When I got to him it was neat to confirm it was one I had a picture of .
The after .

Because my nephew John was there and had not done a field dressing before . I felt it was time he did one . With the guidance of his father and myself . We walked him through it . We also informed him when he gets his first deer we will do it for him because he probably will hurt himself .

With a energetic adult hauling out a deer in nasty stuff looks easy .

Who needs a ATV when you have a "John" deer .

Stopping for a break . Not for the person hauling but for the old guys trying to keep up with his younger legs .
