Stirrup Protection
Noticed from a lot of pics on various posts here and on the Trading Post that a lot of you guys have some kind of a wrap or protection on your stirrups. What do you use, what works or doesn't, and what are the advantages? Thanks for any help or input

Re: Stirrup Protection
I gave the local Bed Liner spray guy a couple marinated venison backstaps to coat my stirrups

Brian,
Make sure your arrow fletching clears whatever you put on the stirrup. You may need to leave a gap. Most guys who do that are looking to deaden sound.

I used tennis racket wrap also, then wrapped para cord over that.

Tennis racket tape works great, I've also used rubber pipe insulation split in half and used dull black electrical tape to wrap it tight.robertyb wrote:Tennis racket wrap works well.

Check to make sure your vanes clear that wrap. I had mine wrapped in paracord and they made contact.Stocksoccer wrote:I used tennis racket wrap also, then wrapped para cord over that.
I now use black silicone tubing wrapped as tight as i could get it.

Re: Stirrup Protection
I used spray on "plasticoat" from Krylon. It's a much more durable coating than plasti-dip and comparable to truck liner spray, I also sprayed the buttstocks of my crossbows. Line-x in Windsor wanted $100 to spray two stirrups...I laughed and hung up the phone.

Re: Stirrup Protection
I split a piece of 3/8" rubber gas hose put that on the stirrup then wrap it with rubber electrical tape. Work great!

Re: Stirrup Protection
A friend of mine wrapped my Grizzly's stirrup with paracord. It seems to do the trick & it looks great as well! I have also used baseball bat grip wrap as well!

Re: Stirrup Protection
What works for me is the tool drawer material wrapped on the stirrup and i than cover it with Vet Wrap (the kind used on a horse leg injury). The Vet Wrap sticks to itself and stays in place. It took the "Twang Reverberation" out of the stirrup.

Re: Stirrup Protection
Thanks everyone for all the great feedback. Was more concerned about my physical well-being if I marked up our hardwood floors, and the damage I might do to the stirrup out in the rough. Never thought about noise suppression etc. Thanks again. Very helpful and enlightening
