Waxed dental floss on serving?

Post by sproulman »

On my Horton crossbow I used Waxed dental floss over servings on string and NEVER wore out a serving on that bow ..

Good or bad on serving?Archers at range saw my idea and started doing it and they did not wear out serving i think they replace it about every 30 shots but only takes a few minutes at range to put new floss on serving and most never shoot over 30 shots anyhow and do it later at home ...

Just getting feeling on this ....

I have used floss to tie in peep sights in a pinch, but that's about it! I would not use as serving for any reason, not even under a kisser button to build up the string!

I wouldn't recommend it . I would suggest buying the supplys and learning how to serve strings yourself. It's alot of fun and a very useful skill .

One thing you guys are funny,me too..

I have feeling some think this person is losing his marbles... first going wrong way tightening the string and now waxed dental floss to protect serving from wear...

Wonder what is going to be next?

I'm thinking maybe he means he adds the waxed dental floss over the top of his serving(I hope). No way would I use it as a serving.

I guess I am not the only crazy one: I didn't do it on the servings but did use it to overlay the loops when they started getting a little loose, but it was on a compound bow with only 100 lb limbs...worked fine....
it did not build up any bulk.

Since I use capture nocks on some of my my arrows, the serving has to be diameter specific. For the Flemmish I make I use Angel or Halo they wear like iron. I can't imagine reserving every 30 shot. Major PITA!!

i AM THAT PERSON just making little humor.yes for years we used waxed dental floss on our horton crossbows and never wore out serving just wrap it around serving..but you had to go to shop to remove strings..

then i invented way to remove strings without going to shop but really never used my idea....
