I'm using a 20" arrow. It sits past the stirrup...Square_hammer wrote:Do the blades clear the stirrup? Or do you use a longer arrow that hangs out past the end?
Not with the magnus. 20 yards will be max with these heads. In hoping to get one in within 15 yards..mr meat wrote:Have you shot farther then 20 Jeff!
The beauty of the magnus is its like black and white. If I connect the bird will be DRT. If I miss then I extend my season for another day. Nothing wrong with a body shot however I don't want to chase a wounded bird for miles in case I miss the sweet spot...catclr wrote:Good shot on a target that the head is not moving. lol
My question is why not just use the broad heads you use for deer and take the body shot?
I shoot them in the body, and have not had a problem. If it's because you feel you ruin the bird with a body shot, the only good part of a wild turkey is the breast's and maybe the legs, and only if you cook them for 8 hrs. in a slow cooker.
I'll agree, with "If I connect the bird will be DRT."bellerivercrossbowhunter wrote: The beauty of the magnus is its like black and white. If I connect the bird will be DRT. Well since your profile does not say where your from, I can't say for your state per say. But I can say for Pa. & NY that pressure before season and during season does effect the calling of gobblers. The use of crow calls and owl calls are the same way. They get use to those sounds coming from the same spots or area and they will stop answering those calls. I have seen this happen in both Pa. and NY., over the 49 yrs. of spring gobbler hunting.Timbrhuntr wrote: As far as birds being call shy because of being called too either before or during season well thats another argument that don't agree with.
