This was posted by Boo on 6/4/17 and although it is not about about arrow and bow combinations it goes to another important topic....that of "arrow preparation" before fletching.....an area where many members have struggles with!

Knurl the inserts between 2 files to give it texture.
Wash the inserts in acetone.
Run a 30 cal bore brush into the shaft to remove loose material.
Stick the shaft into acetone and shake. Remove the shaft from the acetone and shake off the excess. Do this 3 times.
Let all cleaned surfaces dry for couple of hours or until there is zero smell of acetone.
Do not touch any of the cleaned surfaces with your hands.
Put a small bead of glue on the inside edge of the shaft and at the forward corner of the insert (the end going into the shaft) as well as on the glue surface of the insert. If you do not see a bead of glue build up ahead of the shaft, you haven't used enough glue.
Push and turn the insert into the shaft and smack it on a wooden surface to seat.
Do not use the shaft for 24 hrs.
Goat Tough, the blue top Gorilla glue, G5 blue glue all worked for me with no problems. Twenty four hour two part epoxy works really well. Cleanliness is more important than the glue used.

Courtesy of Boo!

I'm new here, just bought an Excalibur Matrix 350SE. My target practice and then turkey/coyote arrows are the stock Diablo arrows with Excalibur Boltcutters.

For deer, to keep the 400 gr total I had Wyvern Creations build me custom Double Eagle Executioner 18" arrows with an 80 gr brass insert and then lumenocks. I will match them with NAP Spitfires in 125 gr. The total weighs out to 409 gr.
Matrix 350SE, Hawke XB1 SR, R.E.D.S., Guardian ADF, Diablos with 150 gr Boltcutters, Black Eagle Exectutioners with 125 gr NAP Spitfires, JBK String

Vixen II (S5 and Dissipators) with Vixenmaster flemish string

Gold Tip Laser II's with 110 grain brass insert

NCStar DB4 Reflex sight - use starburst pattern reticle

flip flop between (all 100 grain) Axe Archery Battle Axe's, Dead Ringer Stiletto's and G5 T3's - mostly depending on my mood

I know it's heresy but I shoot plastic "moon" nocks - switched after getting a few partial dry fires/string jumps on flat nocks

Total arrow weight is 394 grains with an FOC of 22.5% and a blistering 278 fps @ 5 feet from the stirrup :)
Graham

Micro 340TD, 17" Gold Tip Ballistics (180 gr inserts) - 125 gr Iron Will/VPA/TOTA (504 grains total/21.6% FOC) @ 301 FPS

One suggestion would be go to http://www.southshorearcherysupply.com/index.php and look at all of the options you can get from Jerry. You can also call and talk to Jerry at ‭(813) 545-0754‬. They will build anything you want and are top notch.

originally an exomax with factory aluminium arrows of 20 years ago, and I think WASP broadheads( were the a brand back then?). Now a matrix 380 blackout with diablo and boltcutters and intention to put a rifle look riesterer stock on it. Going for an old school look, modern power, and will match the guns in the safe.
