late season 9 pointer

Post by Red Label »

Had a great day out with RJ and the Sandman. Basically we were overrun with deer. I saw a counted 20 different deer, mostly does and fawns with a small rack buck and this guy. RJ and Sandman saw equally as many and had some marginal opportunities but no shots fired.

It finally all came together for me, as this is my first serious mature buck. The shot was 15 yards, slight quartering to, recovery was inside of 100 yards within eyesight. The farmer was great and brought his tractor out with the loader bucket to haul my deer out! 8) He is 21 1/4" inside and 24" outside, 9 honest points (damaged brow tines) with a little bump that might be a tenth. I'm calling him a 9 and he's going to adorn my living room wall soon.

Ricky will take some better pics tomorrow when we get him cleaned up.
