Excalibur purchase!! Next steps? :)
Finally got an Excalibur and ready to sight it in. Wanted to ask what other accessories and/or items I may want to put on my Christmas wish list?
I got this deal for about $360. I tried to post a photo, but for some reason is not showing up??. Choice was between this or a newer model for $100 more. Decided to go this route and use the money saved for other items. I am pleased as the more I am checking this thing out, the more I am realizing it seems I got a good deal. A couple of questions though.
1. What other items would you recommend? Additional arrows, wax, etc.?
2. Is there a way to sight in the crossbow without having to buy a lead sled, etc.? I also wanted to ask if folks recommend hunting standing or sitting when using a ground blind?

A stringing aid is a must have for sure, I would also buy an extra string and carry it along in the field.
I sight mine in using a front and rear rest just like a rifle, no need to buy a lead sled!

Re: Excalibur purchase!! Next steps? :)
Which model did you get?
As mentioned above, stringing aid and a spare string are the only must haves .
If your model does not have a Guardian Anti dry fire, I'd be getting one of those too.
Regarding sighting it in, use a soft rest to get you zeroed, either by traditional "zeroing" or hash mark method whichever floats you boat.
But most importantly, make sure you make you final adjustments based on how you will make your hunting shot. If you are planning on making your kill shot from and off hand sitting position ie: treestand, then you should at least make a couple shot like this with your arrow in full hunting configuration to confirm it's going where you think it is.

Already came with the extra string and I believe a stringing aid. I may not have captured it here.
Regarding the front and rear rest, you are talking about the soft rests?

the model is an Exocet? It has the anti dry fire as well, or I presume so since it has the safety and fire toggle.janesy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 10:41 amWhich model did you get?

Good point on the kill, etc.

Great choice, that is a life long purchase right there.
It probably doesn't have the Guardian. You can buy them separately. You'll know you have it if there is a large release button above the safety. It catches the string in the event of a dryfires. Frankly with an Exocet, you could probably dryfires it every day for the next week and never have a problem. But it's just the extra element of safety.

Ahhh....Ok, then correct it does not have that. I will need to look for one then. Do you recommend a certain one? Yeah, I am happy with the purchase. I wanted the newer model, but as a first timer, figured get this, save the $$ and invest in arrows and eventually a better scope. The scope it has seems pretty sweet though. I can leave as is or put on a green or red light within the scope as well.janesy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 11:30 amthelopeztribe wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 11:23 amthe model is an Exocet? If you do not have string stops installed you should get some. I recommend the Rubber Baby Bumpers (string stops) made by Dan Miller at Horizontal Archery. He does not do internet but his phone is 740-483-2312. He has real good oprices and has everything for all the Excalibur bows. If you would like a top mounted quiver he makes a great one also at a great price.
Here is a pic of one of my bows with the ADF, Dan's quiver mount and baby bumpers all installed.

Readily available, the only option is the "Guardian Anti-dryfire" from Excalibur.thelopeztribe wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 11:49 am

Most places sell them, I'm sure Danny Miller will be able to help you out, assuming you are state side
Another good starting point would be to find and read BOO's website. Tons of info there. Best tip you will get is to establish a solid and repeatable cocking routine. This will help to ensure proper alignment, safety applied, and arrow inserted . All good steps to keep your fingers located in their factory finger location

I do have bumpers that came with this. Interesting about the top mounted quiver. How do you like that vs. the side mount?robertyb wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 12:04 pmIf you do not have string stops installed you should get some. In my opinion, Munch (on this board) makes and sell the best top quiver mounts. He also makes and sell metal cocking hooks, and after having one of the plastic ones break, I don’t use anything else.
