In addition to my earlier post regarding dogs tasting urine here is a cut I copied from a pet forum talking about the issue.
The gland is called jacobson organ in dogs'
Dogs possess another olfactory chamber called Jacobson's organ, or, scientifically, the vomeronasal organ. Tucked at the bottom of the nasal cavity, it has two fluid-filled sacs that enable dogs to smell and taste simultaneously. Puppies use it to locate their mother's milk, and even a favored teat. Adult dogs mainly use it when smelling animal pheromones in substances like urine, or those emitted when a female dog is in heat.
Yes there was a study on deer behaviour and human urine. Proved deer can actually be attracted to human urine. They even did chemical analysis.
Final result was human urine has the closes chemical composition as a deers urine.
As far a what size container to use. Good luck with your water bottle.
The time and effert to climb down and do your thing, can end your hunt if any deer is close by. Or even worse tryING to get it in a bottle.
I gave up on the bottle thing years ago, you will have a much more enjoyable hunt and hunt longer when you are comfortable, and I have not found urine scent to be a deer alarm.
WEWE on the PEEPEE let it rip.
A hot water bottle works good. I've peed in scrapes, but when in the tree I prefer the hot water bottle. Dump it when you get home; rinse
it and you're good to go.

Don't wreck the fun house!
I have always just let it fly right from my stand. Hasn't deterred deer from walking right under it.
Yep, and playing the wind is crucial!
I would agree with that for sure
Word of caution Number 2 should never ever be considered while still in the stand.
Not only could it be dangerous and messing but guite embarrassing when found hanging from your tree harness

I pee in all my mock scrapes and get tons of pictures from them. If I am in a treestand, I just let fly but not aimed upwind.... I have had both deer and elk walk under my stand shortly after peeing and show no indication of alarm. I do refrain from eating a lot of meat or spicy food during the season for scent control and maybe that helps.

I'm positive if I am ever found hanging from my tree harness #2 will have taken place.
I have had does, fawns and small bucks walk right by after taking a pee out of a tree. I have never seen a shooter buck at least 3 1/2 year old or older after doing so though. I carry a pee jug now.
